Ingredients

King’s Hawaiian sliders with pulled pork are made using easy, simple ingredients you can find in most grocery stores. Here is a look at the highlights but be sure to check the recipe card for the full list and quantities.

Ingredients to make pulled pork sliders on the table.
  • Slider buns: I find that King’s Hawaiian rolls work great but you can use any other small bun option you prefer.
  • BBQ sauce: We love this homemade honey BBQ sauce but you can also use storebought.
  • Pulled pork: Use already prepared pulled pork such as the one by Jack Daniel’s which I find makes this dish much easier or you can make homemade pulled pork too!
  • French fried onions: Adds the perfect onion flavor and crunch to your pork sliders.
  • White cheddar cheese: Feel free to swap it out for a different type of cheese but I really love how the white cheddar works in this recipe.
  • Homemade butter sauce: Made with melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic salt to brush on the buns.
  • Coleslaw: You can use your favorite! But I love this vinegar coleslaw. It has the perfect balance of flavors and works really great with pulled pork.

How To Make Pulled Pork Sliders

Let’s get started! These Hawaiian roll sliders go together in just a few steps.

Collage of assembling pulled pork sliders from adding the pork, cheese, onions, and then brushing on the butter sauce.
  1. Prep the slider rolls. Cut the rolls in half without separating the buns from each other. Spread the BBQ sauce onto the top and bottom of each half and place the bottom half onto the baking sheet. Top with the pulled pork.
  2. Top the pork. With half of a slice of white cheddar cheese.
  3. Add. The French fried onions on top of the cheese and place the top half of the buns on top of the French onions.
  4. Brush. The butter sauce on the top and sides of each sandwich.

PRO TIP: If you don’t have a brush, you can drizzle the buttery glaze on top of the buns.

  1. Bake. The sliders uncovered for 12-15 minutes or until the tops of the buns are toasted. Let them cool a bit and then add the coleslaw and enjoy!

Tips & Variations

  • Swap the crispy onions. For fried shoestring potatoes or potato chips.
  • Spicy. If you like spicy add some jalapeno slices on top of the pulled pork.
  • Prefer chicken? You can use BBQ shredded chicken in place of the pork.
  • Line your baking pan! Add a layer of aluminum foil will make cleanup easier.

Recipe FAQ

What condiments go with pork sliders?

I love BBQ sauce and coleslaw which is why they’re part of this recipe but you can also try them with sliced pickles, jalapenos, different variations of slaw, and a creamy dressing such as my ranch dressing.

What to serve with pork sliders at a party?

Pork sliders are easy to eat with your fingers making them perfect for parties! Serve them with your favorite party foods but I highly recommend other simple dishes such as slow cooker queso, taco pizza, and air fryer taquitos.

What kind of bread is best for pork sliders?

Any small bun or roll works but the soft, slightly sweet flavor of King’s Hawaiian bread is my favorite. Also, they are stuck together which makes them much easier to fill than individual rolls.

Can I make these baked sliders ahead of time?

Yes, which is a huge plus when serving for a crowd! Assemble the pork sliders completely but hold off on the garlic sauce. Cover and refrigerate until you’re ready to heat. Brush them with the melted butter sauce and then cook as directed. You may need to add a bit of additional time since they are cold from the fridge. For best results, don’t assemble longer than 4-6 hours before serving.

Storing

These pulled pork sliders are best enjoyed fresh but if you end up with some leftovers, here’s what to do.

  • Store. Leftovers in a container in the fridge for up to four days.
  • Reheat. Them in a baking dish covered with foil for 10-15 minutes. I suggest brushing the tops with more of the melted butter sauce when reheating.
