Blueberry Smoothie
You only need 5 ingredients to make this smoothie, all you need is blueberries, strawberries, bananas, blueberry yogurt, and ice for that perfectly smooth and tasty drink.
- Delicious Flavor. Blueberries have a sweet and slightly tart flavor mixed with the sweet flavor of strawberries and bananas. A perfect combo for a tasty drink.
- Refreshing. This recipe is refreshing and hydrating, making it perfect for a treat on a hot day or after a workout.
- Versatile. You can easily make this your style by adding spinach leaves, or another fruit that you love like raspberries or peaches.
- Easy to Make. Make this recipe in a flash for a great breakfast, after-school snack, or after-dinner treat.
- Kid Friendly. This is a great way to get your kids to eat fruits they may not eat on their own. It tastes so good they’ll be asking for more.
Ingredients For Blueberry Smoothie
- Blueberries. I love using fresh blueberries for this recipe. They give a great taste and the perfect amount of juice.
- Strawberries. Make sure you remove the tops before adding them to the blender. You don’t need to cut them into small pieces, let the blender do the heavy lifting.
- Yogurt. I use blueberry yogurt to add a sweet blueberry taste.
- Bananas. Make sure your bananas are ripe and are starting to brown for the best sweet taste.
- Ice Cubes. It’s important to use ice cubes so you get that smoothie texture. Without the ice cubes the consistency will be off.
Tips for the Best Results
- Serve immediately. Serve and drink this smoothie immediately. The longer it sits, it will begin to take on a not so appetizing gray color from the blueberry pulp.
- Frozen Blueberries. If you use frozen blueberries, strawberries, and bananas omit ice cubes and add 3/4 cup of milk.
- Protein. To make your smoothie more filling and balanced, consider adding protein sources like Greek yogurt, protein powder, or nut butter.
- Sweeten. Depending on the sweetness of your blueberries, you may want to add a sweetener like honey, maple syrup, or dates to enhance the flavor.
- Other fruits. Mix in other fruits or vegetables like spinach, or avocado to boost the nutrition and flavor of your smoothie.
- Blend thoroughly. Blend the ingredients on high speed until smooth and creamy. You don’t want any chunks left!
- Toppings. For added texture and flavor, top your smoothie with granola, nuts, seeds, or coconut flakes.
How To Make The Best Blueberry Smoothie
- Gather. Gather the blueberries, bananas, strawberries, yogurt, and ice. Wash the fruit, and peel the banana.
- Blend. Add the fruit and yogurt to a high speed blender and blend until smooth.
- Add. Add the ice cubes into the blender of blended fruit and blend until smooth.
- Pour. Once done, pour the smoothie into individual glasses and enjoy immediately.
What To Serve With Blueberry Smoothie
This Blueberry Smoothie is great on its own for breakfast but it also can be paired with breakfast casserole or banana chocolate chip pancakes for a full energizing morning meal.
Leftovers & Storing
- Store. If you have any leftover smoothie be sure to store it in the refrigerator. The smoothie will begin to discolor and lose its texture over time so I recommend drinking it immediately.
- Freeze. I’ve had great luck freezing extra smoothies. You can eat it frozen or thaw it in the refrigerator before eating.
