Why We Love Air Fryer French Fries!
- Anything I can make in the Air Fryer, I love! It’s one of my most used kitchen appliances.
- These store-bought frozen french fries come out crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
- They are healthier than making them in a deep fryer, so you can enjoy them without the guilt.
- Cook so much faster than in the oven and taste way better. It’s a win-win!
Ingredients For Frozen Fries in Air Fryer
- Frozen french fries: Sometimes it’s hard to find a 16-ounce bag of frozen french fries, so if you have a bigger bag (like the 26 oz. bag, I used), just make them in 2 batches.
- Salt: I just use table salt but you could use garlic salt, onion salt, or even ground pepper.
Kitchen Tools
First, you need an air fryer, I love this one because it’s BIG and I can make more at once. Also, you will need some kitchen tongs for grabbing the hot fries. If you’re looking for a cute way to serve, try these fast-food fry baskets.
How To Make Frozen French Fries In An Air Fryer
- Place. Add the frozen fries to the air fryer basket.
- Bake. Cook the french fries for 10 minutes.
- Shake it up. After 10 minutes, shake the basket of fries.
- Add salt. Sprinkle fries with salt or your favorite seasoning.
- Get them crispy. Cook for 5-10 minutes depending on how crispy you like your french fries.
Expert Tips For Making The Best Air Fryer Frozen Fries
- Don’t overfill. If you put too many fries in the air fryer, some will get super crispy and other fries won’t be done. So if you have a large bag of frozen fries, just make them in two batches.
- Shake, Shake, Shake. Don’t forget to shake the basket halfway through to make sure your fries cook evenly.
- Extra crispy. If you want your fries extra crispy, just add an additional 1-2 minutes until they are crispy enough.
Frequently Asked Questions
This will depend on your air fryer. For this recipe, I used a 1700-watt air fryer. That’s why I always recommend checking your fries every 5-10 minutes. Decrease or add more time depending on your air fryer.
No, do not defrost. Keep the frozen fries in the freezer until ready to use them. If they are even slightly defrosted they might be soggy and harder to get crispy.
No need to add oil. If you want to lightly spray the french fries before you cook them with olive oil spray, this sometimes helps the salt or seasoning stick better. But, you don’t need to spray them at all.
Once the fries are golden brown and crisp. I pick out one fry and let it cool down and test the doneness (don’t burn your tongue!) and if they need more time add 1-2 minutes.
Best Dipping Sauces For Air Fryer Frozen French Fries
- Ranch dressing: I love dipping my fries in ranch dressing.
- Fry sauce: I make my own fry sauce with equal parts ketchup and mayo. It’s delicious!
- Cheese sauce. For game day, I make my queso cheese dip and create animal-style fries.
- BBQ sauce. Dip them in your favorite BBQ sauce. The sweet hot flavor is so good!
- Spicy sauce. Mix equal parts hot sauce and honey for an amazing spicy dipping sauce.
How To Reheat Fries In Air Fryer
I love reheating fries, especially McDonald’s fries in the air fryer. Game changer.
- Reheat. Toss the fries in the air fryer for 3-5 minutes at 400°F.
How To Store Leftover Fries
- Store. Place leftover fries in an airtight container or Ziploc bag in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. As mentioned above, reheat in the air fryer.
