Fry and Burger Sauce Ingredients

  • Barbecue sauce: Adds smoky sweet flavors to the sauce. You can use your favorite brand or flavor.
  • Chili sauce: A close cousin to ketchup but with a more complex flavor. You can use any brand but we love Heinz.
  • Mayonnaise: The creamy component that brings all the flavors together.

Tips & Variations

  • Make it spicy. You can add a bit of heat with a few dashes of hot pepper sauce or a sprinkle of cayenne if you like it spicy.
  • Add more spices. Feel free to add more black pepper, garlic powder, garlic salt, or onion powder to infuse more flavor into your sauce.
  • Refrigerate before serving. This gives it some time for all the flavors to meld together before you serve it up.

Recipe FAQ

What is french fry sauce made of?

Recipes vary but the original started as a mixture of ketchup and mayonnaise. Over time the flavors and variations have expanded but most sauces contain a blend of these two ingredients at the heart of it. I prefer using chili sauce instead of ketchup because it’s an easy way to add more flavor to the sauce without needing a bunch more ingredients.

What does fry sauce taste like?

My recipe for this popular dipping sauce is slightly sweet, tangy, creamy, and a bit smoky.
