Ingredients For Orange Creamsicle Cookies

Ingredients for orange creamsicle cookies.
  • Butter. Use softened butter to cream with the other ingredients.
  • Sugar. White granulated sugar is used for the cookie dough and powdered sugar for the frosting.
  • Eggs. For best results use room-temperature eggs. This helps the cookies rise better.
  • Buttermilk. Buttermilk adds a deeper flavor profile aiding the tangy citrus flavor.
  • Flour. The base of these cookies uses all-purpose flour.
  • Baking soda. Baking soda is used to help the cookies rise.
  • Salt. These cookies just need a dash of salt.
  • Orange. To get the best orange flavor use the juice and zest of 1 orange.

Tips for the Best Results

  • Let the cookies cool before frosting them. If the cookies are still warm at all, the frosting will melt and your cookies will be ruined. Make sure the cookies are fully cooled to room temperature prior to frosting!
  • Thin the icing as needed. If you find that your frosting is too thick to easily spread, stir in a splash of orange juice until you reach the desired consistency.
  • Use a cookie scoop. It’s so important to make sure all of your cookies are the same size so they bake evenly. Use a cookie scoop to make sure they’re all about 1 TBSP in size. (check out my How To Scoop The Perfect Cookie post for more tips and tricks)
