Ingredients For Easy Chili
- Onion. Diced yellow onion has the best flavor for this recipe.
- Ground beef. For the best flavor, get a high-quality ground beef. Be sure to drain the fat after cooking.
- Bell Peppers. Use a variety of colors for a fun look and taste. I used mini bell peppers for this recipe.
- Tomatoes. Be sure to use canned chili-ready diced tomatoes. Don’t drain the tomatoes before adding them to the pot.
- Chili Beans. Chili beans, pinto beans, are best for this recipe for the ultimate flavor. Don’t drain the beans.
- Corn. Use canned corn. Be sure to drain the corn before adding it to the pot.
- Chili mix. For the best flavor, use your favorite chili packet mix. I like using McCormick’s original chili flavor.
Tips for the Best Results
- Use Quality Meat. For the best results, use lean ground beef or turkey to reduce grease and keep the chili hearty. Don’t forget to drain the meat!
- Pre-Cook Cut Vegetables. Sauté onions, and peppers first for added depth of flavor. Cook them while you cook the ground beef to save on time!
- Use Canned Beans and Tomatoes. These cut down cooking time but still offer awesome flavor and texture. Don’t drain these two ingredients, the juices add extra flavor.
- Season Generously. Don’t skimp on chili packet seasoning—season to taste as it cooks.
- Simmer for Full Flavor. Be sure to let the chili simmer for the full 20 minutes to meld the spices and ingredients together.
How To Make 20-Minute Stovetop Chili
- Brown. Add ground beef, diced onions, and chopped peppers to a 6-quart stock pot and brown. Drain the fat.
- Add. Once the vegetables and beef are browned, add the remaining ingredients to the pot.
- Boil. Bring the chili to a boil. Then reduce the heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes to thicken the chili.
- Top. Make it your own way by topping it with sour cream, tortilla chips, shredded cheese, and even avocado.
What To Serve With Easy Chili
This 20-minute Chili is a great family dinner, or perfect for football season. You’ll love pairing it with my tasty Jiffy Cornbread, Cheesy Potatoes, a green salad, or some easy Air Fryer Garlic bread.
Leftovers & Storing
- Store. Leftover chili stores in the refrigerator for 3-4 days in an airtight container. Reheat a small portion in the microwave, or the stovetop, if you are planning on eating it all.
- Freezer Instructions. This recipe freezes great! Once completely cooled, add to a freezer-friendly ziplock bag or airtight container. Freeze for up to 2 months. When ready to reheat, thaw in the refrigerator and then warm on the stovetop or microwave.
