In a 6-quart stock pot, brown onions, ground beef, and peppers. Drain fat.
Add the remaining ingredients.
Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes depending on how thick you like your chili.
Top with sour cream, tortilla chips, shredded cheese, and even avocado.
Notes
Use Quality Meat. For the best results, use lean ground beef or turkey to reduce grease and keep the chili hearty. Don't forget to drain the meat!
Pre-Cook Cut Vegetables. Sauté onions, and peppers first for added flavor. Cook them while you cook the ground beef to save on time!
Use Canned Beans and Tomatoes. These cut down cooking time but still offer rich flavor and texture. Don't drain these two ingredients, the juices add extra flavor.
Season Generously. Don’t skimp on chili packet seasoning—season to taste as it cooks.
Simmer for Full Flavor. Be sure to let the chili simmer for the full 20 minutes to meld the spices and ingredients together.
