Preheat the oven to 350℉ and spray a 9×13 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
In a large bowl, mix the hash browns, salt, onions, soups, sour cream, milk, and cheese together. Pour into baking dish.
In another small bowl, mix the crushed corn flakes and melted butter together. Sprinkle evenly across the top of the hash brown mixture.
Bake uncovered for 45 minutes and serve hot. Enjoy!
Notes
Make it Spicy. You can add some green chilies to add a mild level of spiciness and more complex flavors or chop up some fresh jalapeños for a bit more heat.
Swap Out the Cheese. This hash brown potato recipe will work with just about any type of cheese that melts well. Try it out with Pepper Jack, Monterey Jack, or Colby Cheese for a bit of variation.
Add Bacon or Sausage. You can easily mix in some crispy bacon or cooked sausage to make it a bit heartier.
Use Shredded Hash Browns. I prefer the texture you get from using the diced hash browns but this same recipe will also work with shredded.
